The benefits of Pilates
Pilates is a body awareness and body alignment technique that helps to return the body to balance, strength, flexibility and harmony.
I studied Pilates with Alan Herdman for five years and have, in turn, taught students of the Royal Ballet, Ballet Rambert and the English National Ballet.
I introduced Pilates to Northern Ireland in 1997 and set up a studio in Newtownards and ran classes in Belfast and Holywood.
The exercises strengthen the abdominals, pelvic area, legs and back muscles. The strength of the pelvic centre and a flexible spine are key to regaining and keeping agility, tone, flexibility and coordination.
